My Top Fall Home Decor Trend Favorites
With the crisp morning air and cozy throws + sweaters we are all starting to pull out of our winter closets, fall is in the air! It is one of my favorite times of the year for all things home design. And with my birthday just around the corner, it gives me a great excuse to shop! It is the ultimate homey season and gives me all the feels!
In honor of my love for fall, I thought I’d round up some of my favorite home decor trends for the fall season. Whether this time of year is your thing or you’re mourning the end of summer, there are always ways to add a touch of fall to your home without having to overhaul your home.
Summer vs. Fall Home Decor Trends
While summer home decor trends focuses more on a light, organic feeling, this year’s fall home decor trends are all about fun shapes, warm neutral tones, and luxurious textures.
My biggest tip? When decorating for fall (or any season, really) the goal should be to bring together a curated mix of pieces that perfectly reflects you, your lifestyle, and what you love. Don’t get too caught up in trying to adhere to a specific aesthetic- such as farmhouse, mid-century mod, traditional, etc. You can mix in updates, while sticking to the basics of what you know and love! Decorating a home should bring you joy, so have fun with it!
Here are more specifics on the top fall home decor trends of the fall season. Which is your favorite?
Earth Tones
Warm tones of sand, rust, camel, terracotta, copper, oatmeal, muted greens, and similar neutrals complement just about every other color palette, making them the perfect addition to any space! They are easy to incorporate into your every day decor, and help give a lay of cozy with the added mix of fabrics.
Natural Wood
The natural beauty of wood creates a welcoming and calming environment for fall. And with the growing desire for lighter, airier spaces, wood adds a much-needed grounding effect. The best part about this trend…you can find it in your backyard! Whether you want to tackle a DIY furniture project, or just want to bring in some branches from a nearby bush you love, natural wood tones can be organically added throughout any room to gain a sense of a fall, rustic feel.
Woven Elements
Woven elements in all their forms add softness to any space and are having a moment this year. The thing I love about fall the most, is wanting to nestle in to your home and feel warmth all around. You can add woven textures behind fluffy velvet curtains or to the floor in the form as a rug. No matter your choice, this layering aspect can bring in a bit of warmth with some of the deeper hues we see making a splash in the fall months.
Textured Fabrics
Choosing natural fabrics with weight and texture, like chunky cotton and wool throws, nubby boucle, velvet, leather, and weightier linen is a no brainer for this time of year. These types of fabrics instantly make your home feel cozier — even if you prefer a cooler color palette! On top of that, they are one of the easiest items to rotate between seasons for the lowest investment. Create seasonal newness with these types of items and recycle them throughout the year for an easy refresh look and feel.
Mixing Vintage & Modern
The unique blend of different design elements makes a space feel collected and unique. Vintage rugs and vases are a great way to bring a touch of visual interest to a space! The mix of new and old gives a home an elevated feel and uniqueness unlike anything else.
Happy decorating!
